Praxis: Journal of Community Service publishes scholarly articles reporting community service activities that apply science, technology, knowledge, and innovation to address community needs and improve community welfare. The journal welcomes contributions from academics, researchers, practitioners, students, and multidisciplinary teams from Indonesia and other countries.
Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts according to these guidelines and the official Praxis manuscript template. Manuscripts should describe the problems addressed, objectives, implementation methods, results, discussion, contributions to the community, implications or sustainability of the program, and conclusion.
Manuscripts must report original community service activities and demonstrate clear benefits for the target community or partner. Submissions should emphasize practical implementation and outcomes rather than presenting theoretical discussions without a clear connection to community service.
Manuscripts may be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English, provided that the language is clear, accurate, consistent, and academically appropriate.
Before submitting a manuscript, authors must ensure that the following requirements are met:
The manuscript is original and has not been published previously.
The manuscript is not under consideration for publication in another journal.
The content is relevant to the focus and scope of Praxis.
The manuscript follows the official Praxis manuscript template.
All authors have made meaningful contributions to the activity or manuscript and have approved the submitted version.
All sources cited in the manuscript are included in the reference list.
Figures, photographs, tables, and other supporting materials are properly identified and used with appropriate permission when required.
Any potential conflicts of interest and relevant funding sources are disclosed.
The manuscript complies with applicable publication ethics and research integrity standards.
Authors should organize their manuscripts using the following structure.
The title should be concise, specific, informative, and representative of the community service activity. It should identify the main activity, intervention, target community, or principal outcome where appropriate.
Authors are encouraged to use a title of no more than 15 words.
For manuscripts written in Bahasa Indonesia, an English title must also be provided. Manuscripts written entirely in English require an English title.
Author names should be written in full without academic or professional titles.
Each author's affiliation should include the department or study program, faculty or institutional unit where applicable, institution, city.
The corresponding author must be identified and provided with an active email address.
The order of authors should reflect their contributions to the community service activity and manuscript preparation.
Each manuscript must include an abstract in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
Each abstract should contain approximately 150–250 words and be written as a single paragraph.
The abstract should briefly describe:
The background and problems faced by the community or partner.
The objectives of the community service activity.
The methods, approaches, or interventions implemented.
The main results and outcomes.
The contribution, benefits, or implications of the activity for the community.
Provide three to five keywords or phrases in both Bahasa Indonesia and English, as appropriate to the abstract languages.
The Introduction should explain the background, context, and urgency of the community service activity.
Authors should address the following aspects:
The problems or needs experienced by the target community or partner.
Relevant supporting data, observations, or findings from previous studies.
The social, economic, educational, environmental, health, or other relevant context of the problem.
Previous interventions or community service activities related to the topic.
The gap, challenge, or unmet need addressed by the proposed activity.
The rationale, novelty, and expected contribution of the program.
The objectives of the community service activity.
The Introduction should establish a clear connection between the identified problem and the intervention undertaken. Relevant and credible academic references should be used to support the discussion.
The Method section should explain how the community service activity was planned, implemented, and evaluated. The description should be sufficiently clear to allow readers to understand the process and assess the suitability of the approach.
Authors should describe the following elements, where applicable:
Location and Target community: The place and period in which the activity was conducted. The characteristics of the participants, community group, institution, or partner involved
Implementation approach: The approach adopted, such as participatory action, community empowerment, etc.
Stages of implementation: The preparation, planning, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up stages.
Indicators of success: The criteria used to determine whether the activity achieved its intended results.
A flowchart, diagram, or implementation table may be included to clarify the stages of the activity.
The Results and Discussion section should present the implementation process, outcomes, and critical interpretation of the community service activity.
Authors may organize this section into subsections. It can describe the conditions of the community or partner before the intervention. The implementation process and the activities conducted at each stage. Photographs or other documentation may be included to illustrate the implementation process. Present the outputs and outcomes achieved during or after the activity.
Authors should support their claims with appropriate evidence, such as observation results, evaluation data, pre-test and post-test comparisons, participant feedback, product documentation, or other relevant indicators.
Results should be reported accurately. Authors should not claim measurable improvements or long-term impacts unless these are supported by appropriate evidence.
Interpret the results in relation to the objectives, implementation approach, and identified community needs. The discussion should explain why the outcomes occurred, identify factors that supported or limited the program, and compare the findings with relevant previous studies or community service initiatives.
Authors should also discuss the practical implications of the activity, its contribution to community empowerment, and opportunities for improvement or replication in other contexts.
Discussion may include follow-up activities, continued mentoring, community ownership, institutional support, local resource utilization, partnership development, or plans for replication and expansion.
The Conclusion should summarize the principal achievements of the community service activity and explain how the program addressed the problems or needs identified at the beginning.
The conclusion should:
Relate the main outcomes to the stated objectives.
Highlight the most important contributions and benefits for the community or partner.
Indicate the extent to which the program objectives were achieved.
Provide relevant recommendations or follow-up directions when supported by the results.
The conclusion should be concise and written as a coherent narrative paragraph. It should not merely repeat the Results and Discussion section or introduce new data that have not been discussed previously.
Authors may acknowledge institutions, community partners, funding agencies, organizations, or individuals who contributed to the activity but do not meet the criteria for authorship.
Funding sources should be identified clearly where applicable. Authors should obtain permission before acknowledging individuals when necessary.
Authors must provide a statement specifying the individual contributions of each author to the community service activity and manuscript preparation. Contributions should be described transparently and accurately to reflect the actual roles of all authors.
Contributions may include conceptualization, program planning, methodology, coordination with community partners, implementation, data collection, analysis and evaluation, manuscript preparation, review and editing, and supervision.
Authors must disclose the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools or AI-assisted technologies in preparing the manuscript, where applicable. The statement should identify the tool used and explain its purpose, such as language editing, translation, organization of ideas, or assistance with drafting.
AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of the manuscript, including the verification of references, data, and other information.
Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other relationships that could inappropriately influence the community service activity, interpretation of its results, or publication of the manuscript.
Praxis recommends using the American Psychological Association (APA) citation and referencing style, 7th edition, unless the official manuscript template specifies otherwise.
Authors should observe the following requirements:
Every in-text citation must correspond to an entry in the reference list.
Every reference listed must be cited in the manuscript.
Authors should prioritize relevant and credible scholarly sources, particularly peer-reviewed journal articles and other primary academic publications.
Recent publications are encouraged, especially for rapidly developing topics.
Foundational literature may be included when it provides essential theoretical or methodological support.
DOI links should be included whenever available.
Authors are encouraged to use reference management software, such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
Before submitting a manuscript, authors should confirm that:
The manuscript is relevant to the journal's focus and scope.
The manuscript is original, has not been plagiarized, and is supported by a plagiarism similarity report (e.g., Turnitin) and an AI-detection report, where required by journal policy.
The manuscript follows the official Praxis manuscript template.
The title, author information, abstracts, and keywords are complete.
The Introduction identifies the community's needs and the objectives of the activity.

Tables, figures, photographs, citations, and references are presented appropriately.
The Acknowledgments section identifies relevant institutional or financial support, where applicable.
The Author Contribution Statement accurately describes the role of each author.
The Artificial Intelligence Use Statement is included, where applicable, in accordance with journal policy.
The Conflict of Interest Statement is included.
All authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript before submission.
